How to Delete Your Reddit Account Permanently

Reddit can be a fantastic resource for just about anything. From the humorous to the macabre to video games, there are sections devoted to almost any topic under the sun. You can interact and ask questions if you feel that the information is not enough or if you just want to chat. People have even bought and sold things through Reddit.

The problem with Reddit is that while you are essentially anonymous (though famous people can always put their real names as a username), there are some security issues with the website. These include the CEO of Reddit Steve Huffman manipulating posts on a whim, Reddit tracking and sharing users, hacks revealing nude photos, and handing data to the authorities. To avoid this, there is but one way, and that is to delete your account and all the posts, comments, and shares you have made on the website.

To delete your Reddit account, you will have to follow some steps, which we will list out below. Before that, however, you must make sure that you have access to your own Reddit account. What good is deleting your account if you can’t access it?

1. First, we will log in to your account.
2. Go to the My Profile section and click/tap it.
3. You will see your posts and clicking the three-dotted button will allow you to delete it.
4. Repeat the process until all of the posts, comments, and shares are gone.
5. Go to the User Settings section and click/tap it.
6. Click the Deactivate Account button.
7. Re-enter your password.
8. Check the ‘I understand that deactivated accounts are not recoverable’ option below.
9. Click the ‘Deactivate’ button and sigh in relief.

There you go, now all traces of your Reddit activity and your account are gone.
