When most people think of VPNs the big names like IPVanish and NordVPN come to mind. They’re both affordable, pack an awesome feature set and have thousands of server locations – but which one is best for you?
Both services have their pros and cons which we will get into below to help you choose the best service. You can also find reviews and comments on our website to help you understand a little more about each service.
The Latest Discounts for IPVanish and NordVPN
Like most VPNs, both have routine and heavily discounted subscription fees to make the service more attractive to customers. The latest deals on both services price them fairly close together, though there’s still a clear winner when it comes to pricing.
NordVPN 72% discount – The current standard NordVPN price is $11.95 per month or $5.75 per month on an annual plan. Though, the biggest savings come on the 24-month plan with monthly fees being just $3.29 or 72% off! A total cost of $79 over 2 years.visit: Nord VPN
IPVanish 20% discount — Without the discounted price, IPVanish is priced at $10 per month or $7.20 per month for three months. However, the real deal right now is the annual $5.20 per month plan, making an entire year cost just $62.39.visit: IPVanish VPN
Features and Security
Testing by third parties showed that IPVanish had an exceptionally good overall service. A few of the main results showed:
- There were no leaks, a nice improvement over last year
- Consistently fast speeds
- Stable and intuitive software applications that make it really easy to connect and switch servers and enable and disable the VPN.
- Although based in the US, it is still a recommended VPN for streaming as well as Kodi.
Despite most of IPVanish’s features working great, there are still a few kinks that might need to be ironed out, as well as an issue with where the VPN is based. Being headquartered in the US means that there aren’t very good privacy laws for the service, though IPVanish still maintains a zero logs policy.
The features and general experience on NordVPN are decent. The service’s applications are designed really well and they’re one of the most effortless to use of all other services. Performance is relatively stable, though, some servers might have interruptions. Streaming Netflix on the service is doable, though it will depend on the server.
One area where NordVPN really shines brighter IPVanish is in the location with which it operates. Being based in Panama means there are no privacy concerns and the service can operate entirely free of enforced government monitoring.
NordVPN takes the winning place for security simply because of its location in Panama.
In the Fast Lane: IPVanish vs NordVPN
In the fast lane, there isn’t too much competition for speed for IPVanish.
Testing showed that on a 100mbps connection, without a VPN connected, the IPVanish VPN did vastly better in most servers staying consistently above 90mbps in most scenarios.
In the majority of cities across the US and Europe, IPVanish was showing off speeds of around 95mbps, rarely dipping below 90mbps no matter which server was chosen.
Although NordVPN can boast a far bigger network, its speeds weren’t as remarkable as IPVanish. The service allows you to connect to thousands of servers around the world, as well as giving you a huge selection of servers per country, though speeds were considerably slower.
During testing, NordVPN could only hit around 60mbps on the 100mbps base connection. In the UK and Europe, speeds were also fairly slow, with UK servers only offering 44.6mbps.
NordVPN vs IPVanish Reliability
There is another clear winner when it comes to reliability, and that is again ExpressVPN.
It’s not uncommon to have connections issue when using NordVPN. Often the initial connection is the main issue rather than the stability of the connection once you’ve already linked with a server. This issue is more common in some server areas than others though, so if you don’t often use a certain array of servers you won’t be affected.
IPVanish does fairly better in the reliability category as the service experiences issues very infrequently. All servers appear to connect without a hitch and bugs or connection dropouts are almost entirely unheard of.
Exclusive Features: NordVPN vs IPVanish
Although IPVanish might be the better option for speed, NordVPN is certainly our pick when it comes to useful features.
NordVPN boasts a Double-VPN configuration service which allows you to encrypt your web traffic across two servers – effectively creating a near-impenetrable firewall. There is also the Tor-over-VPN servers which exit on to the anonymous onion (or Tor) network. Advanced CyberSec ad-blocking and tracking prevention are also built into NordVPN.visit: Nord VPN
IPVanish doesn’t have any of the above features. Simply speaking, it’s just a solid, reliable and extremely fast VPN service without any non-essential extras.
